Privacy Policy

This is a personal portfolio and writing archive. It collects as little as possible: anonymous traffic statistics, and an email address only if you choose to give one.

Who runs this site

This site is operated by Shashwat Sharma as a personal portfolio. It is not a company and does not sell anything. Questions go to shashwork19@gmail.com.

What is collected

There are exactly two categories.

Anonymous traffic statistics. Page views, referring pages, approximate country, browser, and device type. This is aggregate and is not tied to a name or an account. It exists so I know which posts people actually read.

Your email address, only if you submit it. If you subscribe to the newsletter, your address is stored so posts can be sent to you. It is used for nothing else. It is never sold, rented, or shared for marketing.

There are no advertising trackers, no cross-site profiling, and no accounts. Nothing on this site asks for a password, a payment method, or a government ID.

Services this site relies on

A few third parties process data on my behalf. Each has its own privacy policy, and each sees only what it needs:

  • Vercel — hosting and anonymous analytics. Sees request metadata such as IP address and user agent, as any web host does.
  • Buttondown — newsletter delivery. Sees your email address if you subscribe.
  • Giscus / GitHub — comments on posts. Only loads if you interact with a comment thread, and requires you to sign in to GitHub yourself.
  • Cal.com — meeting scheduling. Sees only what you type into a booking form.

Cookies

This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. Your theme preference (light or dark) is stored locally in your own browser and never leaves your device. Embedded third-party services listed above may set their own cookies when you interact with them.

How long things are kept

Traffic statistics are aggregate and retained indefinitely in anonymized form. Your email address is kept until you unsubscribe, at which point it is deleted from the mailing list.

Your choices

Every newsletter includes a one-click unsubscribe link. You can also email me and I will remove your address, tell you what is stored about you, or delete it entirely. No account or verification hoop is required — just ask.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes that affect subscribers will also be sent to the mailing list.
